      This course will equip teachers in Displacement camps across Africa with practical knowledge, tools, and strategies to integrate socio-emotional learning (SEL) into their teaching practices.

      Given the complex emotional and psychological needs of children who have experienced displacement and trauma, this course will empower teachers to foster emotional resilience, positive social skills, and a supportive learning environment. 

      Teachers will also learn how to address their emotional well-being to sustain their role as supportive educators.

      Course duration:

      4 weeks (self-paced with facilitator support)

      Target audience:

      Primary school teachers working in refugee or internally displaced person (IDP) camps in Africa.

      To be able to take part in the course forums and gain your course completion certificate, you must enrol on the course.

  • Course learning outcomes

    By the end of this course, teachers will be able to:

    1. Understand the core concepts and importance of socio-emotional learning (SEL) in educational settings.
    2. Identify the emotional and psychological challenges faced by displaced children.
    3. Develop strategies to integrate SEL into daily teaching practices and curriculum.
    4. Support children’s emotional well-being and resilience through specific SEL activities.
    5. Foster a positive classroom environment that nurtures both academic and emotional growth.
    6. Manage and regulate their own emotions to maintain a healthy teaching environment.
