Everybody knows that here in the UK we have bumblebees and butterflies, but did you know that there are 24 different species of bumblebees and 59 different butterfly species?  Maybe you’ve already seen bumblebees with different stripe patterns and colours or some butterflies that have different spots and colours on their wings but don’t known how to work out what they are called.  We’ve developed exciting learning tools with  automated image recognition technology to help you discover all these different bumblebee and butterfly species. 

The X:Pollination Bumblebee Identification Tool will help you understand the key features of a bumblebee you need to look at when identifying different species.  There are four levels of difficulty (easy, medium, hard and really hard), so once you can identify the common and easy species, you can move on try to identify some of our rarer and trickier to recognise bumblebee species. You can receive help for different artificial intelligence technologies while learning.

The X:Pollination Butterfly Identification Tool will help you understand the key features of a butterfly that you need to look at when identifying different species.  There are three levels of difficulty (easy, medium and hard), so once you can identify the common and easy species with their wings open, you can move on try to identify some of our rarer and trickier to recognise butterfly species and also identify the patterns on their wings when they are closed.
