Spot Bumblebees and Butterflies in a Green Space

bumblebee key Now that you have used the X-Polli:Nation species identification tools and practised distinguishing different butterfly and bumblebee species online, why not head to your garden or local park (following all the government rules in place) and see how many different species of bumblebee and butterfly you can spot?

The tool does not let you upload a photo yet (we are working on this), but you can still use it in two ways:

  1. If you have an i-pad or smart phone, you can take it outside and use the key from the tool while observing a butterfly or bumblebee in the wild. In this way, you will be able to look out for the specific features you need to focus on for the identification and see the insect from different angles.
  2. If you can take photos of the bumblebees and butterflies you find, you could try and identify them back home using the keys in the tools (though you won't be able to upload the picture yet).
