Teaching has taught me that being a good teacher is not only about explaining information. It is also about understanding students, listening to them and helping them become more confident.
As a PE teacher and fitness trainer, I have learnt that every student is different. Some students learn quickly and feel confident, while others need more time, encouragement and individual support. This has made me understand the importance of using different activities and teaching methods.
I have also learnt that good planning is very important. Before a lesson, I need to think about the learning objectives, the students’ abilities and how I can make the lesson enjoyable and useful. During the lesson, I also need to be flexible and change my approach when necessary.
Reflection helps me understand what worked well and what I can improve. After each lesson, I can think about the students’ participation, their progress and any difficulties they faced.
Overall, reflection has helped me become more aware of my teaching and has encouraged me to keep learning and improving as a teacher.
