The Venezuelan government is focused on other interests rather than education. It leads people to believe that education is important to them, but that is not the case. They make it appear as though Venezuelan educational priorities are:
School inclusion: ensuring that no child is left out of the school system.
Quality and modernization of teaching: with updated programs, methods, and curricular content.
Human resources optimization: improving the distribution and assignment of teachers in schools.
However, there is a deep disconnection between what the government says and the critical situation of schools, due to a lack of resources and the country’s socioeconomic crisis, compounded by negligence, apathy, and corruption. Hyperinflation and low wages caused hundredes of thousands of venezuelan teachers to migrant or abandon the profession.
To improve this situation, I think it is essential to implement an integral transformation that addresses teachers’ needs, updates the curriculum, improves infraestructures and basic services, and provides teacher training in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and supporting children with autism or other disabilities, ensuring that education is truly inclusive.
