I chose “Create a safe, welcoming learning environment” because all students need to feel safe and welcome at school. When students feel safe and welcome in the classroom, their brains can focus on learning. They feel confident and motivated to ask questions, answer questions, make mistakes, and become more deeply engaged in learning.
I learned from this resource that a teacher should pay attention to students with visual, auditory, or physical disabilities, as well as shy or easily distracted students, and think carefully about where to seat them. This helps to make sure that students feel comfortable and can access the lesson.
I am sure I could use this idea. At the beginning of the course, I would ask all my students who have one of these disabilities to sit in a safe place where they can feel valued, included, and welcome.
