Welcome from Phil Butcher and Tim Hunt
Hands-on Moodle Quiz is a hands-on course on writing interactive questions with feedback, building engaging objective tests and giving individualised student support. This is a practical course. You will write your own questions using your own local copy of Moodle 2.5 (or later) and you will be able to experiment with the system as you choose.
The course has been written by Phil Butcher using the tools developed by Tim Hunt.

[PGB] Hello I’m Phil Butcher [TJH] and I’m Tim Hunt [PGB] and together we’ve been guiding the development of the Moodle Quiz and since 2006. That we have been able to do this is because our university, The Open University here in Milton Keynes, has decided to use Moodle for its VLE. Not only that, it has decided to spend extra resources in making Moodle better. And the person who has been spending most of his time making the Quiz better is Tim.
[TJH] The Open University is a great place to work on the Moodle Quiz, because for our distance learning students this is the only way they can get immediate feedback on whether they're understanding what they're learning. But in other educational contexts too immediate feedback can be a very powerful tool. For teachers Moodle takes care of the technical and administrative details of running an online Quiz so you can focus asking the questions you want your students to think about.
[PGB] We believe that interactive educational computing is a very powerful motivator for student learning. In this course we'll take you through some of the tools that we've developed. And to give you a flavour for it we're going to ask you to start by running one of the quizzes that we've written. It will take you about an hour and we hope you enjoy it.
