First of all it was fascinating to hear about this PhD done at Banff Academy in an international context. Here in Scotland we often just compare ourselves against ourselves rather than looking farther afield, so that appealed to me. I really like how much of the research and the findings were focussed on the responses from the learners who were involved. This should happen much more often!! I’m tempted to say that regardless of the Scots side of the project, the focus on attitudinal change and the aim of transformative changes to education was incredibly inspiring. The fact that the way into those conversations and those ideas was Scots language is fantastic.
