Aquaculture is a critical sector to feed the world and it is imperative we develop innovative means and methodologies to circumvent environmental challenges and contribute towards the ecointensification of the industry.

Recently Jon Grant from the GAIN project participated in a panel discussion on the topic of "Greening the Blue Economy".  The panel, consisting of technologists, academics, environmentalists, and aquaculture industry stakeholders discussed topics such as environmental impact, food security, marine spatial planning, and transparency. These issues are complex and require a greater appreciation of the environmental impacts aquaculture can have, together with improved usage of technology to improve decision making and enhance management.
