Welcome to Building Number Confidence: Graphical data | Multiply Highland, 2:55
Hello and welcome to Building Number Confidence: Graphical data.
This online resource was developed to support Highland Multiply, an adult numeracy programme funded by the UK government and delivered on behalf of Highland Council by UHI Inverness.
Highland Multiply online resources are designed to complement in-person Multiply sessions in Northern Scotland but they may also be useful or interesting to anyone who wants to develop essential numeracy skills.
This resource is one of a collection of building numeracy modules developed on OpenLearn Create. The content and activities focus on building number confidence in relation to graphical data and should help you to: recognize common data units, graphical data formats and related terms; read different types of data presented within different visual formats including tables, charts, graphs, and pictograms. and interpret and compare graphical data presented within tables, charts, and diagrams to extract insights, make decisions, and solve problems.
The resource is structured into three main parts: Getting started, the Resource library and the Activity zone.
You can work through the resources in chronological order if you want to, but the module is designed primarily for those who want to dip in and out as needed.
The Resource library contains interactive workbooks which are helpful for when you want to revise and check your knowledge. There is a handy glossary for the subject area and sign posting to useful online resources elsewhere on the web.
When you feel ready to practice and assess your developing skills, you should go to the Activity zone. Here you will find a multiple choice quiz. The quiz will give you feedback on your answers and signpost you back to relevant content if needed.
And finally, when you feel ready to assess your competence against the learning outcomes for this module, you can have a go at the interactive story.
The interactive stories in each of the building confidence modules are designed to help you practice your new skills in realistic but fun and fictional scenarios.
At the end of the resource you will also find tips and ideas for developing and maintaining your new skills, with signposting to other useful resources.
We hope you enjoy this online learning resource.
