🧍‍♀️ Bystanders: Passive vs. Active 🧍‍♂️

We all witness situations where someone might be in danger or facing harm. In those moments, we choose to either:

  • Do something → become an active bystander.

  • Do nothing → remain a passive bystander.

💬 Why Active Bystanders Matter

When we intervene:

  • We show that harmful behaviour is not acceptable.

  • We help shift community norms toward respect and safety.

  • We can help prevent future harm.

🛠️ Ways to Intervene Safely

Being active doesn’t always mean confrontation. It can include:

  • Giving a disapproving look.

  • Distracting or interrupting the situation.

  • Not laughing at harmful jokes.

  • Talking privately with someone about their behaviour.

  • Supporting someone who’s been affected.

  • Asking for help from friends, staff, or police.
