Terms and conditions

Entry rules

Eligible learners can enter the prize draw by submitting the official entry form linked from the email issued by The Open University (‘the Promoter’) after the achievement has been obtained, and confirming acceptance of the terms and conditions.

Each eligible learner is entitled to one entry. Duplicate and multiple entries will not be accepted.

The prize draw opens at 00:00 BST on 14 September 2026 and closes at 23:59 BST on 14 October 2026. Only achievements completed within this period will be eligible. Entries received after the closing date will not be accepted.

500 (five hundred) entrants (‘the Winners’) will be selected within seven (7) working days of the closing date. The selection will be made using a computer-generated random process to ensure that Winners are chosen fairly and without bias, using a recognised random selection method and conducted under the supervision of an independent member of the Promoter’s staff.

Each Winner will receive one (1) voucher to enrol on a Microsoft Certification available at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials (‘the Voucher’). The Voucher will confirm how it should be used.

The Promoter reserves the right to carry out reasonable verification checks and to withhold the Voucher where eligibility cannot be demonstrated.

Each Voucher may be redeemed only once to take one Microsoft Certification exam.

The Voucher cannot be used to enrol on or credited against any retake of a Microsoft Certification.

The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Voucher with an alternative of equal or greater value if circumstances beyond its reasonable control make this necessary.

The Voucher cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash or any other product or alternative.

The Voucher will expire on 10 April 2027. Winners must use their voucher prior to that date; no Vouchers will be reissued due to expiry.

Receiving your prize

Winners will be contacted by the Promoter using the email address supplied by the Winner. The email will contain the voucher code and instructions on how to redeem the Voucher.

The Promoter is not responsible for delivery issues caused by incorrect email addresses.

Data protection

The Promoter will not share any personal data with Microsoft. Winners will be responsible for using the Voucher subject to Microsoft’s own privacy policy and data protection terms.

Personal data will be collected and processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws and solely for the purposes of administering the prize draw, verifying eligibility, contacting Winners and distributing Vouchers.

Personal data collected may include an entrant’s name, email address, learner identifier, course completion status and prize draw preferences.

The Promoter may request confirmation of a Winner’s surname and county of residence for regulatory compliance purposes.

General terms

Any entrant who opts in to the prize draw automatically agrees to abide by these terms and conditions.

The Promoter reserves the right to (a) verify the eligibility of an entrant, (b) disqualify an entrant, and/or (c) refuse the Voucher where conditions are not met.

The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into about it.

The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries that are incomplete, lost, delayed, damaged or not successfully submitted due to technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind, or any other reason beyond its reasonable control.

The Promoter will use reasonable endeavours to make the Voucher available to each Winner in accordance with these terms and conditions. The Promoter is not responsible for a Winner being unable to claim, access or use a Voucher where this is caused by the Winner’s own act or omission, failure to comply with these terms and conditions, expiry of the Voucher, the Winner’s own IT infrastructure, third-party platform requirements, or any circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.

The Promoter makes no representation or warranty in relation to the prize draw and accepts no responsibility for any loss, expense or damage suffered or sustained in connection with the prize draw or Voucher, or accepting or using any part of the Voucher, except for any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Entrants’ statutory rights are not affected.

The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, amend or withdraw the prize draw at any time without prior notice where necessary due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control. This shall include the Promoter receiving any direction from Microsoft to modify, suspend or terminate the prize draw, or where Microsoft modifies, withdraws or is unable to support the Voucher.

Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
