2 Job applications from the past!
In this activity you will use the CHIP resource in a pretend scenario.
Let’s suppose The Open University is looking for a new Head of Psychology.
Applications have come from the following people:
- Leon Festinger
- Anna Freud
- Elizabeth Loftus
- Carolyn Wood Sherif
- Lewis Terman.
Openin a new tab in your web browser and click the ‘Start Investigating Psychology’ link.
Pick one of these people and answer the following questions:
Interviewer: Describe your background and someone or something that has influenced your work.
Interviewer: How is your work relevant to modern-day psychology?
Interviewer: What ethical considerations, if any, might you have to consider now in the 21st century that you did not have to consider before?
These questions, as you can imagine, could be answered in many different ways – far too many to list here. The purpose of the CHIP resource is to allow you to explore questions around the history of psychology in your own way. You are encouraged to develop your own strategies for engaging with it. However, to get you started, this task has given you the chance to try out the different functions that the resource offers and allow you to conceptualise these prominent psychologists from a slightly different perspective.
