Summary
In this session, you’ve explored the first part of the DEAL process, as the session began by Describing what maths anxiety is. You’ve considered how maths has made you feel when you have studied it before. You’ve learned about how the term ‘maths anxiety’ evolved, the different ways it may manifest, and how it affects people’s interaction with maths. And you’ve seen that while many people suffer from some maths anxiety, it does not stop them from succeeding with their studies.
Session 2 will move to the next part of the DEAL process, and Explore maths anxiety. Please keep in mind while you study, that your journey may not be linear – you may find benefit from returning to an earlier session to reconsider or refresh what you have learnt, so you should feel free to do this at any time.
