1 Making the change
The COVID-19 pandemic forced many institutions to move their teaching online with little or no notice. There was little time for planning, for training, or for preparation. Staff and learners around the world found this very challenging and struggled to cope with the rapidly changing situation.
As you have seen in this course, online teaching requires approaches that are different to those used in the classroom. Simply moving lectures online may be the fastest way to move to distance learning in an emergency, but in the long term it does not make the best use of online learning and it puts students in the role of passive consumers of content rather than active learners.
