Week 1: Introduction to the Arabic alphabet

Introduction

This is the first session of a two-part pre-course of the short course Introduction to Arabic Language and Culture [Tip: hold Ctrl and click a link to open it in a new tab. (Hide tip)] by the Open Centre for Languages and Cultures. Completing this course will take you about four hours. This course focuses on the most basic steps in learning Arabic: you will learn the alphabet, vowels, and also learn a bit about different dialects and the history of the Arabic language. At this stage, you are encouraged to listen to the audios, and practise writing.
