Part 1: Understanding concepts of STiP

Introduction

Part 1 Understanding concepts of STiP introduces basic principles of systems thinking as a constructivist endeavour – constructing boundaries for improving situations of change and uncertainty. It introduces three core threshold concepts of systems thinking in practice:

  • (i) understanding interrelationships (uIR)
  • (ii) engaging with multiple perspectives (eMP)
  • (iii) reflecting on boundary judgements (rBJ).

The concepts can be used together as part of a systems thinking in practice (STiP) heuristic for engaging with a wide variety of situations of interest.
