3 Maths Anxiety Pathway (MAP)
This final part of Session 4 will introduce the MAP, the Maths Anxiety Pathway, which will be individual to you. This course has been designed to help you DEAL with your maths anxiety in a linear way, but your experience of maths anxiety is probably not linear. Anxiety may change at different times of your life and may be affected by your study choices.
The MAP illustrates that as you DEAL with your maths anxiety (Describe, Explore, Act, Learn) you may need to move back and forth between the different steps. By using the growth zone model and being aware of your own levels of stress you can choose to repeat parts of the process as often as they are needed.
When you start doing some new maths or working with more challenging material, it is very natural for your anxiety levels to rise again. You can choose to move straight back to the most appropriate part of the DEAL process for you, and enable yourself to move into the growth zone.
