Like a movie, book or song, a good talk will grab the listeners' attention from the very start and hold onto it. Having learnt about the elements of a good presentation, how do you inform the audience who you are, what you'll be talking about, and why should they listen to you? Will you start with a joke? Your job title? A story? Just what is it that people need to know right from the beginning? What might they already know?

The introduction to your presentation will often be the most important part. You need to draw in your audience and get their attention.
