Week 7: Children, capacity and the law

Introduction

In this week you consider how the law relates to children. You explore the special status of children in law and look at how this affects everyday situations. You learn about what powers children have under the law and how these may be limited.

After studying this week you should be able to:

  • explain the special status children have in law
  • understand how the law is used to determine children’s capacity
  • understand the complexities in this area.
