A recent study found that having ten portions of fruit and vegetable a day considerably reduced the risks of developing long-term conditions such as heart disease, stroke and cancer. You could argue that most people don’t even manage to eat five portions a day, although that is a reasonable aspiration. But eating seven portions, let alone ten, might seem impossible, so they might just ignore the advice completely.
