Biography

Gemma is an applied cognitive psychologist with a specific interest in attention and perception. Gemma's research is focused on how we pay attention in different real world settings, including both driving and witnessing crimes. Much of herresearch looks at how dual tasking affects our attention as well as our eye movements, demonstrating how it is possible to look at a scene yet fail to actually see important aspects of it when our attention is diverted elsewhere. Gemma's research is closely tied to herteaching at the OU. Shehaswritten materials for DE200, Investigating Psychology 2, and DD803, Evaluating Psychology: Research and Practice. Shealso co-chairedand wrote materialsforDD802, Investigating Forensic Psychology, and is the qualification lead for the MSc in Forensic Psychological Studies (F73) and the MSc in Psychology (F74).
