Exploring languages and cultures

This introductory OU level 1 module is designed to introduce key concepts relating to languages, cultures, and intercultural communication. It will help you develop study skills, intercultural skills and language awareness, enhancing your employability. It will also support and complement the language skills covered in our language-specific modules. Study resources include printed materials and a dedicated website with online activities which support independent learning. Together, they will introduce you to some elements that define studying modern foreign languages.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Wales

To become a teacher, you need a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Our PGCE will qualify you to work at either the primary or secondary school phases and focuses on the curriculum in Wales. You can study through the medium of English, Welsh or a combination. Teaching is online, including live online seminars, with face-to-face support provided in school. You?ll experience teaching in two different schools in Wales (at least 120 days over the two years). Students endorsed by a school participating in the scheme may be fully funded (salaried route)?or?you can self-fund and could be eligible for a student loan and/or a maintenance grant (part-time route).

After successfully completing this short course, you?ll receive a digital badge. This can be shared on social media, added to email signatures or act as a certificate.
