- Metadata: All fields in the content Settings must be complete and accurate:
- The Course summary is a very short description of the course. Ideally no more than 30 words.
- Learning outcomes must be clearly stated.
- The appropriate Copyright licence attribution has been selected. The majority of OpenLearn Create content is released under the NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA). If you don't know which licence to use, please see this article about different Creative Commons licences.
- The Getting started box has been deleted.
- If your content has mutliple sections, please structure your course with new Topics for each section. If you are not using OU Structured Content, please read this section in our Course builder guide about using Moodle page or Moodle book to structure your content. Please do not add your content to the Topic description box as you will not be able to track this in the course completion settings.
- Configuration and Accessibility (in line with WCAG 2.2 standards):
- Clear and logical content structure and navigation
- Correct heading levels and unique heading titles
- Figures and diagrams are numbered and have descriptive captions (not required for decorative images)
- Alt text is present and meaningful for all non-decorative images
- Videos include closed captions (subtitles), transcripts, and audio descriptions where appropriate
- Audio files are accompanied by transcripts
- Tables are correctly formatted with appropriate headings
- Web links are complete, working, and error-free (this section of the Quick Start Guide includes guidance on adding links)
- Images include proper attributions (source and license)
- Acknowledgements are included for any third-party intellectual property and appropriate References are cited properly
- All Moodle activities are functioning correctly and properly configured
- Quizzes include appropriate grade boundaries, feedback, and completion settings
- Activity conditions and Course completion settings are configured correctly
- Badges are set up appropriately (if used)
- Statements of participation or Custom certificates are correctly configured (if applicable)
- We do not provide feedback on the subject matter itself. However, we may conduct periodic spot checks to ensure that content is appropriate, non-controversial, and aligned with the Open University’s core values of openness to people, places, methods, and ideas.
- If AI tools are used to generate images, please record the prompts used and include them in the course acknowledgements.
- You must confirm that all materials in your content are your own, or that you have obtained the necessary permissions and provided appropriate references or acknowledgements for any third-party content.
