Outlines of two heads with the words Dyslexia and Inclusive PracticeThis free module aims to provide teachers and local authority staff with a deeper understanding of dyslexia and inclusive practice within the context of Scottish Education.  It was developed to support the recommendations of the 2014 Education Scotland Review: Making Sense: Education for Children and Young People with Dyslexia in Scotland

Supporting Dyslexia, Inclusive Practice and Literacy is designed to support teachers and local authority education officers to engage in reflective practice and to develop a deeper understanding of dyslexia and inclusive practice in relation to learners who are dyslexic.

The module is the second of three linked modules supported by the Making Sense Working Group and written by the Addressing Dyslexia Toolkit Working Group, Dyslexia Scotland and Education Scotland with the support of the Opening Educational Practices in Scotland project. All three modules use the General Teaching Council Scotland’s focus areas to support professional learning.

To complete this module you must complete the first module Introduction to Dyslexia and inclusive Practice.

If you complete the module including the quizzes you will gain a digital badge for your learning.

To enrol you will need to register for a free account then login and click on the enrol button.

Please note: if you download the Word or PDF version of the learning materials to study offline and return to complete the quizzes which can only be done online, you will need to click through the online version of the learning materials to complete the criteria for your digital badge.

Module 1 Introduction to Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice focused on what dyslexia is, its impact and how it can be supported within an inclusive school community and developed awareness of:

      • The educational context in Scotland and the national agenda
      • What dyslexia is and its impact
      • Dyslexia and inclusive practice
      • Effective communication
      • How dyslexia is identified
      • Information and practical support strategies

The third module is Dyslexia: Identification and Support

Dyslexia Scotland would like to offer people who have completed the 3 Modules the opportunity to sign up for free electronic membership with Dyslexia Scotland, as a way of continuing to build on their professional learning.

For a course about dyslexia I am finding it very un-dyslexia friendly. I am struggling with the amount of reading and in particular the amount of words to remember when doing the quiz's. Feeling disheartened.
