Welcome to the course
This free module aims to provide teachers and local authority staff with a deeper understanding of dyslexia and inclusive practice within the context of Scottish Education. It was developed to support the recommendations of the the 2014 Education Scotland Review: Making Sense: Education for Children and Young People with Dyslexia in Scotland.
Dyslexia: Identification and Support is designed for Support for Learning Teachers/pupil support teachers and local authority education officers to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the identification process and appropriate supports for dyslexia. This module provides opportunities for practitioners to engage in reflective practice and develop their confidence when identifying and supporting dyslexia.
The module is the third of three linked modules supported by the Making Sense Working group and written by the Addressing Dyslexia Toolkit, Dyslexia Scotland and Education Scotland with the support of the Opening Educational Practices in Scotland project. All three modules use the General Teaching Council Scotland's focus areas to support professional learning. Successful completion of this module will enable participants to apply to the Dyslexia Scotland and General Teaching Council for Scotland for professional recognition of dyslexia and inclusive practice.
To enrol on this module you must first complete modules Introduction to Dyslexia and inclusive Practice and Supporting Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice.
To
gain your digital badge you must complete the module online. A bar on each web
page highlights your progression through the module. Please be aware that
offline completion of this module using the downloadable versions of the module
will not activate the necessary requirements to gain the digital badge.
