Social Media Engagement

Week 2 has been interesting for me with the short video by David White discussing the use of mapping with regard to visitors and residents. Using these terms I probably use the internet mainly as a visitor, since the internet as a search tool for information is valuable both socially and for my voluntary activities. My Facebook account is mainly private, mainly used for family and friends. I also belong to a private family group where we share pictures. The only posts which I make public are those where I am inviting people to events in my church, for example the Scottish Dance Group which I lead.In addition I belong to three local groups for the purpose of posting invitations to my services and other events, such as the Dementia Awareness afternoon I will be hosting next week in the chapel. When I am visiting these pages usually weekly, I 'like' posts of other positive events taking place in the area.Since I am aware of the potential for written information to be misconstrued, I tend to keep comments on other people's posts rather short. David White's idea of visitors and residents I found to be an appealing description of the levels of social engagement online.

Thanks for your contribution. For me it is also important to keep separate...
