Wellbeing

The wellbeing of all children being a top priority ensures that all children are ready and able to learn and reach their full potential. You can have the best teacher in the world stood in front of a class but if a child isn't in the right headspace for learning they simply will not learn.

wellbeing and performance

I totally agree with Ceri-Ann Gilbert that wellbeing should be at the top priority rather than performance. This is exactly what the new purpose lead curriculum for Wales is envisaging as Well-being of pupils and staff is the basis for learning.

I think in the past the league tables etc where focusing too much on performance and quantitative data collection rather than actual progress from an individual learner or teacher point of view.

Therefore effective leadership can only happen when there is enough training and support for all pupils and staff to stay well or improve their wellbeing and for governors to be able to effectively monitor this.

I totally agree with this being said but also the Teachers/ staff well-being  needs taken into account also as this might have an impact on the children education, so my view is a great leadership team will take into account all people as part of school community well being but the pupils and teachers being top priority.
