Is school ethos the same as school culture?

I guess not Homad but a thin line separate the two. To me the ethos mainly deal with attitude and values of the school community while culture is a style or way a school community do their things. Example how they welcome guests or how they treat indiscipline cases.

Ethos and culture

Florence, from your explanation it seems that the two are nearly the same. though you say that ethos deals with attitude  and values-my concern is how does one notice attitude and values in individuals if not through behaviour which is also style? or how people in a community do their thing. for me I think the difference is tenuous.

School ethos and school culture

These two are sometimes used interchangeable but in my opinion base on my understanding of both I would say ethos are the values and attitudes that all stakeholders demonstrates by their action that creates the culture of the school therefore meaning everyone that is part of that school behave in such manner. It is a practice or a norm.

I agree with you Jacqueline. cumulated ethos (values and attitudes) over time creates a culture ( norm or style of doing things).

I think you said it so well Jacqueline. You can't have one without the other.
