Features of an inclusive school

The school should  be a place where all children feel at home. Teachers and school administration should have positive attitudes and values to integrate the learners in the teaching and learning process. Second, teachers and other educators should create self-esteem in all learners to build their confidence and have hope for the future. Also, the school should have resource rooms where to give extra support to the learners with disabilities.

Concise and well expressed. I agree that the schools should offer training to their teachers to enhance their positive attitudes towards their students, helping them feel more at home. School is where children of all abilities or disabilities spend a great deal of their waking lives and deserve to feel at home. Sometimes teachers may get frustrated dealing with children who have disabilities, but this is only because they need the education to effectively create an inclusive environment for them.

Good ideas Jean and Xiomara. In an inclusive school all are included in the learning process and learner centred approach is used. all children benefit. Perhaps you could include ideas given by David  and Lydia in the Video. You could revisit the video and the links. They provide more ideas.

Hello Jean, I certainly agree with you, when you said that the children should feel at home. It should be home away from home. Nurturing and all that should take place at the school as well. Secondly, teachers and administration must have possess positive attitudes toward the learners. Well said, Jean.

Definitely Simone, it is critical for teachers and administrators to be equipped with the necessary training to provide a nurturing environment for the students.

Another feature of an inclusive school is the physical aspect highlighted by Daniel and Lydia. This is to facilitate children with varying disabilities.

Also,a teacher who can account for everyone in their classroom and work collaboratively with other members of staff to facilitate inclusion.
