Stakeholders

The stakeholders play an important role in managing schools. They are the partners of the school leaders in making the schools conducive to teaching and learning. This is even more so of importance in an inclusive school. These stakeholders include: teachers (special education teachers, general education teachers and resource teachers, family, community, parents, peers, principal, state representatives, administrators, cultural institutions, parent teachers organizations, local business owners, advocacy groups and media outlets. The list can go on.  Effective collaboration and partnerships will help to broaden perspectives and increase mutual understanding. Only through such joint working will the ‘inclusive capability’ of the education system as a whole increase. While this is said, one must note that there is no exact recipe for this to work in every school. According to the booklet, "Parents, Family and Community Participation in Inclusive Education" - Companion Technical Booklet : Collaboration is a result of social, institutional and interpersonal dynamics that are characterized by complexity. Because there are no recipes to address such complexities, it is key to think creatively, understand the resources, opportunities and challenges that exist in each case, and be aware of what has worked in similar cases.

Agreed. Effective collaborations and partnerships are key to driving inclusion forward especially in a new normal and with the wave of Blended Learning.
