Inclusive School

Traditional school systems need to be revamped to make accommodations for inclusive school; systems.

Some of the features of an inclusive school include-

  1.  Inclusive schools welcome students of all abilities.
  2. Philosophies of the school support the development of every child, no matter how different they are.
  3. There are specialised service providers and student aids
  4. Flexible activities and learning opportunities for each child
  5. Developmentally appropriate materials
  6. Assistive technology in every classroom

Stephanie, points 1, 2 and 4 are very appealing because they do not have cost implications hence every school/teacher can implement them. As for development of appropriate materials, this is where every teacher's creativity and improvisation skills comes into play. Enables one to use locally available materials to minimize cost of production.

Hi Stephanie,

I agree with the list that you shared. All students should be welcomed, and this requires that the school provides resources and technology to assist teachers to serve all students as best as they can. Positive attitude is important as well.
