1.5 Ethos and Culture

Two key factors that I have observed in the post-secondary institution I teach for is recruitment and recognition. Our school goes above and beyond to recruit students, administrators and instructors from diverse backgrounds, locations, abilities and cultures. The result of this dynamic recruitment campaign is alive in the programs, the celebrations and the sense of belonging. In addition, our school does an exceptional job recognizing individuals, teams, cultural holidays and celebrations, successes and opportunities to come together to learn.

This is an excellent example of creating good ethos and a child friendly environment to enhance the growth and development of students within the school setting. Recruiting trained and abled staff is very important in establishing the perfect atmosphere for children especially with  disabilities.

Agree with these factors. Having the experts in the field is definitely a plus for the school. Recognition and celebration is like the icing of the cake. We all enjoy things when we feel being part of something. Excellent factors.

That's a beautiful example of creating an environment where children feel comfortable to celebrate each other's accomplishments.

The schools I have been observe special events that promote the inclusion of all students such as cultural activities, sports  and also include the parents. We put special interest in including all students ,parents and teachers.

This plays a pivotal role in encouraging parental involvement and participation. In an inclusive school, parents should be partners in their child's learning.

Very pertinent, Ms. Palmer. In a multi-faced society like ours, having that diverse teacher body really creates an environment for the students to benefit culturally and otherwise. Recognition is so important too. It gives staff and students a sense of importance as their unique celebrations and efforts are not side-lined.
