Activity 1.2 ( What makes an inclusive school.

My feelings to what was read is that ensuring an all-rounded environment that provides mental, physical and emotional assistance will directly enable growth and development to those children as well as parents in giving them that guidance and support when needed.

Daniel highlighted that " soft skills" basically talks about teacher attitude as well as administrative support.

An Inclusive school is one that provides parents and children with stability and confidence in its operations. Firstly, there should be proper administration in terms of its program. Administrative support should include allocation of resources to train teachers, facilitating materials for adaptions, allocating time for everyone to feel comforted and included.

An inclusive school may also provide a proper physical environment to facilitate children who are physically challenged in terms of wheelchairs, walking with canes etc. Special toilet facilities with hand rails and ramps should also be provided to enable independence and a sense of belonging.

Most importantly, an inclusive school should provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the environment in terms of teacher attitudes and being capable to restore confidence, create positive self esteem in children. An inclusive school should provide a culture which enables parents and children to feel hopeful and a sense of trust that all their needs would be met at any level. Resources and materials should be at its forefront in meeting these needs.

In regards to what Daniel highlighted it is clear that we know what is needed to facilitate inclusive schools, but the problems are always the same in spite of geographic locations.

These problems include Administrations whose job is solely to make decisions on the proper allocation of resources; teachers lack of seeking advice from colleagues and professionals; and non-existing dialog with all stakeholders involved.

In any establishment teamwork is always the key to success, and is the same in education and most important in inclusive education.

I understand what you are saying in your response! There needs to be clear communication, and collaborative effort amongst administration, colleagues, and stakeholders.

I think the different perspectives coming together would only assist with adequately meeting the needs of students and their families. This will facilitated the consideration of the social, economical, psych-social, and other needs to be tended to while students are educated.

The inclusive school is one that removes barriers from learning. Such barriers may include but not limited to aids, ramps for wheel chairs, and medical personnel. The leadership would  create an environment that promotes equity amongst students of different abilities. The  school will give consideration to the culture of the school, environment and community in which it exist within. Therefore, the accommodation provided appropriately for the children with special needs and there families.
