1.6 ( Professional development)

Professional development journey is a continuous one in the field of teaching. As a teacher, there were always professional development workshops, courses to help to improve and educate teachers in many areas.  These workshops helped me as a teacher and as a person to understand that people generally are unique and sometimes the obvious strategies and intervention may not work out the way you may want it to but it’s a work in progress. Accepting that each and everyone has their own learning style, teachers need to ensure that their teaching techniques meets the needs of each and every student. One of the most important criteria is evaluation and assessment of students. Assessment allows to you to track student potential as well as progression over a period of time.

I certainly agree that teacher development training needs to be continuous and monitored. Over the past few months, I have participated in numerous training sessions which targeted online teaching and the experience has truly been rewarding. It has opened my mind to new and creative ways of including children of varying abilities in both the learning and assessment process. I was able to recognize that there are a lot of strategies available which can make learning engaging and fun for the kids. Teaching is certainly not a 'one-size fits all approach'.

I certainly agree that the term Professional Development must be a continuous one. My journey as an educator has been enhanced by the numerous educational opportunities, I have been afforded. Some include: my teachers' Diploma, Bachelor of Education Degree and Master of Education Degree. I have also taken advantage of numerous online courses, too many to list. I am always excited about learning and equipping myself with new tools and strategies which can enhance my expertise in this profession. I am grateful for this opportunity.
