Two features of an inclusive school:
Fristly, the school learning environment must be prepared to embrace inclusion of for diverse learning and the learners. It includes adapting the physical environment as well as ensuring the materials, resources, activities/lessons, events/celebrations , themes/projects, curriculum delivery reflect our learners and cater for their different learning needs and abilities. Careful planning is key in preparing our school for inclusion that will ensure our learners want to come and learn.
Secondly, the attitude of staff must be one that facilitates inclusion in how we cater for and embrace each learner. A postive attitude toward inclusion in school will enhance how we work together as a staff, as a a community to ensure that our learners see school as the place where they are well supported, embraced.and catered for , a place where he/ she is welcomed to learn, grow and develop.
In ECCE our curriculum guide explains and provides guidelines that inform our practice as educators ensuring that our planning, strategies, the learning environment, materials , resources are developmentally appropriate and caters to and inclusive of all children.
