Creating an Inclusive School

As much as I will like to see our special needs children streamed into the general education system and given the same opportunities regardless of their challenges. It is imperative that they receive high quality instruction and support that will enable them to be successful in said schools. A general teacher should not be to seek external learning for these children. Instead, assign at least two/three qualified Special Ed teachers to each school, create the necessary infrastructure for them to function in a normal environment (ramps, rails, signs). Special Ed teachers will design a curriculum for these students so that they will become active in their own learning. Build a resource center so our children can have the best going forward. Assigning Special Ed teachers to the general system will make learning inclusive.

Creating an inclusive school

Central to inclusive education is the issue of legislation and policy making and then, way of financing the programme.

Special Education teachers and other specialized staff such as teachers' aids will undoubtedly improve the teaching-learning process. Special needs will be better catered to in the classroom.
