Activity 4.10: End of course assessment - Bringing it all together

I intend to include families and outside organizations to support school activities. I will also use the buddy system so that my special needs children are included in daily tasks/activities.

Activity 4.10: End of course assessment- Bringing it all together

Two things that I will take forward from this course into my practice are the use of the School-Based Teacher Development for Inclusive Education Training Handbook which provides strategies I can use in my daily teaching and to increase community connections through marketing and invitation.

The course has enabled me to extend the range of possible strategies which colleagues in school and in educational settings could use to make their institutions more inclusive. I have particularly appreciated what is for me an up-dated collection of foundation research and texts. The strategies met in the CIS course have built up on ideas I had already developed while working through the PartaTESSA-Apréli@ booklet Transforming teaching-learning process and perspective on school-governance: leading the school development planhttp://togopagetessa.pbworks.com/w/file/125189831/B5_Leading-sch-dvt-plan_18.03.31.pdf

I agree whole-heartedly with you Moralda, School-Based Teacher Development is at the heart of supporting learning and teaching within a school. And I would argue that the School-Based Teacher Development programme should be linked to the school development plan.

In terms of taking practice forward, I will endeavour to make the course Creating an Inclusive School available to French speaking colleagues by adapting it to French speaking contexts.

I also found the School Based Teacher Development Training Handbook to be very useful as it provides a range of ideas to support teaching and learning. It encourages teachers to collaborate, try new classroom strategies and reflect on their practices which are necessary in supporting the inclusive classroom.

Two key points noted are

The purpose of creating an inclusive school is to ensure that all learners can access learning and fulfill their potential in an environment where they are respected supported and valued.

Inclusive Education is a process and is concerned with the removal of barriers to children's learning and it endorses the presence, participation and achievement of the learner in a regular school

Two things i will take forward from this course are as follows, I will implement the buddy system where an un disabled child will be encouraged to be a buddy to a disabled classmate, this buddy will be encouraged through the use of  rewards ranging from a simple well done to a best buddy sticker or other appropriate tokens.

I will also engage the use of the School Based Teacher Development Hand Book  as a source for strategies
