Types of Knowledge

I found this so interesting while going through week 3's content of this course. I was a bit saddened to discover that this is actually a two part course and that I had missed the first part. I got delighted when Dr. Kris mentioned in her introductory welcome that this was not an issue and that we would all benefit from participating in this second part.

Being one who is always interested in acquiring new knowledge my curiousity got the better of me and I did some extra reading. I came upon this very interesting article on "Knowledge for, in and of Practice", that I would like to share with everyone. The link to that article is posted below:

I hope you enjoy reading as much as I did.

I believe knowledge is power however if we don't practice or put in use that skills gain from that knowledge it becomes quiet useless. I have seen teachers attending workshops and training however when you observe their teaching no improvement they don't put into practice what they have learnt.

Thanks for sharing that link.

What would make a teacher go for training/workshop, gain knowledge and once back to work station fail to practice?

This  part of the course -"Knowledge for, in and of Practice" made me reflect seriously on my teaching and I regreted some decisions I made as a young teacher. However, I also  appreciate there many experiences in my teaching career that have shaped me to be a better teacher, always ready to learn, improve and share.

Thank you for sharing that link Savitri.

Thank you Savitri for sharing. This will greatly benefit participants who did not interact with the first course " Inclusive Teaching and Learning" where the three types of knowledge were covered at length. Most teachers become complacent with the Knowledge for Practice and rarely get serious with "Knowledge of practice" and "knowledge in practice".
