Monitoring inclusiveness is critical for ensuring that all students have equal opportunities, as well as equal access to and participation in these opportunities. Monitoring can also help teachers recognize and note children's similarities and differences, while also acknowledging these differences in a positive way. Each similarity and difference noted is significant and can have a significant impact in the classroom, with the emphasis being on the abilities that can emerge as a result of the differences seen/noted rather than the differences themselves.
An inclusive feature that I noticed in my teaching practice was the acceptance and understanding of each student who brought their own experiences, abilities, and strengths to the classroom along with dedicated, committed, loving, caring, kind-hearted, nurturing and approachable teachers who supported and encouraged these students while making them feel comfortable. Unquestionably, diversity was recognized and valued. The children's learning requirements and preferences were investigated. Lessons were designed to reflect the diversity of the classroom, and activities were created to meet the needs and abilities of each child. A variety of instructional methods and materials were used/noted, as well as group work to allow students to interact with one another was observed.
Well said Harmony. Monitoring is an important component in inclusive education. In week 3, you will learn more on ways to monitor for inclusivity.
