Monitoring Inclusive Schools

Most teachers are willing to embrace teaching children with special educational needs in their classroom especially if continuous support and guidance are given to them.

A recent training that I facilitated for some of my teachers working with special educational needs students was differentiated instructions. Monitoring the implementation of these strategies in their lesson plan I notice that the students are much more engaged they have positive self-esteem also the other students respect and embrace them because they realize that they do have the capability to perform with some accommodations/modifications. I also notice teachers are much more positive and less frustrated. I do not receive many complaints.

I agree, most teachers do embrace children with special needs, however I think children with emotional/behavioral problems are exceptionally challenging. Greater emphasis should be placed on teacher training in this area since more and more children are presenting with EBD's. Differentiated instruction is definitely a strategy that can be used.
