2.2 Policies for an inclusive ethos

In Belize we have school counselors that goes in schools several times of the year that meet with students to monitor their progress and talk to them about issues and barriers they face in school as a way to support these students who are in the mainstream classroom.  Then they make suggestions to teacher on how to best support or help the child cope.

I remember I met with the school counselor in regards to a child I was teaching and she gave me recommendations on how to help and work with the child to help the child to cope in the mainstream classroom.   I tried what she suggested and it work. So all schools need the assistance of school counselor as support.  Their role is very vital because I saw how she helped me with an issue I was having.
