Professional Development

Even though I did this in college, one course which still impacts my journey on inclusion is Sign Language 1 and 2. I remember  I had a deaf parent come to our Centre and we were able to communicate with her. When it was shown that someone knows how to "talk" to her she felt more at ease. Speaking to her I even learnt some local signs. I try to teach the basics to the children and the other teachers such as colours, the alphabet and greetings. I believe that all educators should learn this language it is beautiful.
