2.2 Policies for an inclusive ethos

In Belize we have school counselors that goes into the schools several times throughout true school year that meet with and monitor progress of students especially those with disabilities.  She speak to them about issues and barriers they are faced with in schools as a way to support these students who are in the mainstream classroom.  Following the session the school counselor would then make suggestions to teacher on how to support or help the child when it comes to coping with issues they face and how to beat help the child when it comes to learning.

I remember I met with the school counselor in regards to a child I was teaching and she gave me recommendations on how to help and work with the child to help the child to cope in the mainstream classroom.   I tried what she suggested and it work. So all schools need the assistance of school counselor as support.  Their role is very vital because I saw how she helped me with an issue I was having.
