Activity 2.7: Positive behaviour management strategies

An Example of a Strategy to Positively Manage Behaviour

As an educator I have used several strategies to positively manage the behaviour of children within the early childhood classroom environment. However, one strategy that I would recommend is ‘Thinking time.’ Thinking time is where the child will sit on a chair and reflect upon his or her actions. After, he or she will engage in a discussion with the teacher in order to determine the cause and consequence of that particular action. Sometimes a solution may be established or the child can apology for doing the action. This strategy works because it is an ongoing process and my colleagues and I encourage parents to use this method when disciplining their children at home.
