Activity 2.7: Positive behaviour management strategies

An Example of a Strategy to Positively Manage Behaviour

As an educator I have used several strategies to positively manage the behaviour of children within the early childhood classroom environment. However, one strategy that I would recommend is ‘Thinking time.’ Thinking time is where the child will sit on a chair and reflect upon his or her actions. After, he or she will engage in a discussion with the teacher in order to determine the cause and consequence of that particular action. Sometimes a solution may be established or the child can apology for doing the action. This strategy works because it is an ongoing process and my colleagues and I encourage parents to use this method when disciplining their children at home.

I do think that is a positive management strategy that would encourage good behaviour and all students to think positively at all times. Students would also understand consequences of specific behaviours and action and would be motivated and encourage to stay on the right path.
