Activity 1.4 Developing attitudes

Most teachers who lack the training and the support has a negative attitude towards teaching children with learning disabilities in the regular classroom, it can be very frustrating when there is no support system put in placed to assist teachers and other staff members. From experience, I considered myself and other staff members who all had a negative attitude towards a child at the school with a learning disabilities, because we lacked the knowledge, education, training and the experience we thought it was impossible. However it was difficult at first in trying to work with the child, but we the staff members supported each other and worked as a team, we also got the parents involved and as time progressed the child made some drastic improvements with her social, emotional and language skills. Currently, the child is in a special school as this is what the parents wanted, but the skills that was taught to her at our centre made a big difference in her growth and development.

I agree with your sentiments. It is indeed frustrating as a teacher who has to deal with a special needs child and have no training.
