As a teacher I have seen over the years that positive reinforcement works with my students. I have several things in place that I use to help me with misbehaving. One is a behavioral chart with white, blue, green, yellow and red. The white is which I start with every morning. Then it goes as follows: blue first warning, yellow second warning, green third warning and lastly red which is for excessive misconduct. I know it is effective because at the end of the day I give a chance coupon where they would write their name and at the end of the month I pull a name and that person wins something like a gift then it becomes heavy competition because eventually everyone wants to win so they try not to misbehave and remain on the white so that they can get a chance to win a prize. I also use a set of chip that I give out at the beginning of the day and each time a child misbehave I take a chip. The student who are left with chip get chances for the amount of chip they are left with and again I see how that work for me.
