Activity 2.3 Using information about pupils

1. The Teacher would use available resources based on an assessment of the individual student's ability. The Teacher may have to create a modified Programme for the slow learners so as not to restrict the aggressive and fast-paced students.

2. A Teacher's job is constant evaluation of students but the history of the student's learning ability comes into play at that time. This would help the Teacher to structure a Lesson Plan or Programme that finds a middle ground that will not restrict the fast-paced learners and not overwhelm the slower-paced learners.

3. Data is gathered from observation, tests, homework, verbal interaction, class participation and just the overall decorum or disposition of the child. If a child has social skills, it is a part of the learning process. Social skills and extra-curricular activities can also form part of that assessment.

4. The Teacher will have an in-depth knowledge of each child's ability and by identifying learning patterns, behaviour, physical attributes such as if a child comes to school with an uncharacteristically unkempt appearance. The Teacher should be observant for anything that is out of the ordinary with the child.

5. In my role as a Teacher I will use several tools to measure the students academic skills and potential. My assessment includes overall performance, class participation, discipline and how well they interact with other students and their willingness to help other students and in some cases the Teacher. By gathering this data, this is in addition to Test- taking and Quizzes, it reveals a deficit or shortcomings of the class as a whole and where you need to make adjustments to ensure that the Lesson or the Programme is administered in a uniform manner.
