Inclusive school 1.2

Two features are staff and resources.

What I have experienced with reference to my two points are staff members working together in order to achieve the same goal. They used different methods through collaboration and achieved their set goal.

With regards to resources the environment is outfitted with suitable furniture and the washroom area is easily accessible for differently abled children.

Yes I agree with the two comments made. At the school where I teach the teachers and administrator all work together gathering information and obtain resources to include all children

Yes I agree with your two points made staff and resources. The staff must work together inorder to acheive the goal. The physical environment must be suitable and easily accessible for these learners.

Two important features of an inclusive school are strong leadership qualities and the removal of barriers in the physical environment. At my school our administrator is passionate about giving every child a chance to have an education. The physical environment is already set up for easy accessibility to the compound for students.

Yes I agree with those points.

Two important features that have been observed at a school I know is that of physical infrastructure (ramps and rails) that are visible to all visitors of the school at the very entrance. The second is that of collaboration. Teachers usually get together or refer to a previous teacher when they observe certain characteristics that may suggest a learning disability for example in a student.  They discuss teaching strategies and resources and the possible need for further intervention via our Special Education Unit if all else fails to bring out the desired outcome. Teachers past and present get together to fill out referral forms if need be to get the required help for students.

1.2

Two important features of an inclusive school

1 Teacher Training

2 Environment/resources

The above features are very important if inclusive education is to occur. In one of the schools I know, teachers engage in continuous training sessions where Inclusive Education is one of the topics. Teachers need to be trained in this because they are the ones who will be interacting with the children on a daily basis. Training allows the teacher to cater to the diverse needs of children.

The environment is also a very important factor in an inclusive school. The school I visited was equipped with railings and ramps and materials within the classroom that will allow the child to feel a sense of belonging , therefore effective learning will take place.

Activity 1.2

I have seen first hand how much problems a school can experience with teachers that does not have the positive attitude needed for an inclusive school.  The children are not given the quality of education that they need because teacher are to busy dealing with their own biases and shortcomings.  It also put strain on the parent teacher relationship.

I agree with all comments in the thread. physical infrastructure and staff attitude are crucial to an inclusive institution. Should the student's disability be more of a physical/mobility issue then having the right types of rooms and support infrastructure will make movement in and around the school much more easier for the student, they do not have to feel excluded from activities cause the too can access these spaces. having internet connectivity as well can help so in the event a student cannot physically reach a space the activities can be streamed to them and they can still participate.

Teachers willingness to be innovative and create dynamic curriculum that address all students and caters for students with disabilities will allow all students the benefit of learning and also becoming more open minded and considerate of their peers.

Activity 1.2

The video addressed two issues that apply to my school. First the the willingness and positive attitude by teachers which unfortunately is lacking and I believe that change alone will make a great difference. Second we are a rural school therefore underfunded which makes getting the necessary resources difficult for our students. I agree a change in these things will go far to having an inclusive education system for students.

Inclusive School

I totally agree with you regarding the environment. I would like to add that, with regards to the environment having good work ethics and attitude contributes to a effective classroom.
